Standard reversible tula cover

This tutorial is for those who have sewing skills... I don't break things down enough for beginners! If you have questions feel free to ask!  Enjoy 

Cut out your pieces using the pattern or your own pattern

Cut out the pieces for your snaps (or Velcro)

This step can be skipped... serge your pieces

I fudged this step up on my current cover so I'm showing this step from an old one... sew the Velcro\snap section on

Lay the two pieces together (right sides) and sew them together... stopping at the marked area. .. this is left open

I use clear thread to top stitch the pieces that are left open

Make a casing at the bottom for elastic

Insert elastic!

You're done! 

Added: pattern & action shots

You will need to print out 2 each... Cut and tape together... I like the way they fit the Tula but you may like a tighter or looser fit... Experiment and find what you like...

Tula removable panel

Note that that's out of the way! Here's how I dress up my tula! 

Cut out 13x13 square and serge or finish edges

Update: add a top stitch before applying snaps

Lay on tula and you can either pin it or use paper clips to hold it in place. Mark where you want to add your snaps against where they are on the tula.

Add snaps. Keep them hidden by not putting it through outside layer.

Do a single stitch (not on outside layer) to keep the fabric from flying around

i added a topstitch around the entire panel and it looks better. see through thread is a good option im going to use next

And there you have it! This is for personal use... if you want a more professional look you can add another layer of plan fabric to the back. But summer is just around the corner here and I'd rather keep the added fabric to a minimum!

Here's the kam snaps on the tula itself. I used glossy because that's what I had but I think matte would be even less noticeable. 

I'm not a fan of the way this fabric falls.... 

As you can see it doesn't hug up against it tight enough... this is a suede fabric.

I didn't have that issue when using cotton! It snuggled up against it pretty fabulously! I'll be sticking with cotton from now on for my panels!

Boppy snap

So yesterday while I was playing with AJ in the boppy I decided it needed a snap so it would go around her and she'd be completely surrounded with pillow while learning to sit! It works! Yay... this is a very simple fix to make life simpler!

My first second & third AI2

I made AJ an AI2 today ahs thought I'd share... I need more seam allowance next time around and matching thread! Aside from that I'm pleased!

Simple fitted diaper diy

I made a simple fitted diaper for my AJ... the tutorial is for someone who has basic sewing knowledge... my absorbent layers are bamboo/hemp fleece blend I purchased from nature's fabrics and the stay dry is microfleece. I made this with the intention of being covered so I didn't care about perfection. I didn't use a pattern... I just used a onesize fitted diaper that I own and cut it out that way...This diaper lasts for hours! Enjoy!
